Those people would exist regardless..
Maybe, but it is only by claiming divine inspiration that they are able to wield power over others, just as the bible wields power by making the same claim.
aren't they both just differen't variations of the same lie?
the only difference is the scale on which their impact on humanity is measured.
that, and the fact that the bible can exist without the wt, but not vice versa.. but at the end of the day, what's the difference between claiming to be the inspired word of god, or the one true religion?

But at the end of the day, what's the difference between claiming to be the inspired word of God, or the one true religion? They both involve presumptuous men invoking the name of an invisible being to, a)Command subservience from other humans, and b)Justify their own abhorrent beliefs and actions.
I'm not trying to exonerate the WT, by any means. They have blood on their hands, as does any group or person that controls others, and then washes its hands of the consequences by claiming divine guidance. But without the bible, such people wouldn't exist to begin with.
but im still in and on the fence.
" remember who owns the fence?".
shunning needs to be tempered.
except Evolution as the fact that it is. And stop embarising us with dumb publications on why its still just a theory.
Publications? You mean like the book of Genesis?
I'm hoping this was meant to be satirical.
i must admit i can at times be a little "egotistical" when it comes to knowledge and the bible.
i have studied the bible for so long and have always had a passion for the bible as a jw and as an ex-jw.
i guess that is all i have left when it comes to religion and as humans we do tend to stroke our egos.
The flood story was the very first (though certainly not the last) thing that made me question the validity of the bible. It was just such a ridiculously farfetched way for God to get rid of bad people, and was clearly conceived by someone who didn't have even the most elementary understanding of the laws of science or nature.
i am inactive for about 10 years now..
Not df'd or da'd, but haven't been to a meeting of any kind for going on 9 years. I've been to a kingdom hall twice in that time, both times for a funeral.
i am going to throw down the gaunlet.
those who know the truth but stay in anyways are complicit in actions of the jehovah witness organization.
while i am sympathetic to the very difficult choices that they have to make, their unwillingness to confront the jw enables the organization.. some of you may remember my story.
I can sympathize with those who are still in for family. I was one of those people, until I just couldn't endure it anymore.
What I can't wrap my head around is those who continue to be regular in the ministry, and even accept appointments to elder or MS despite knowing TTATT. They do so knowing they are taking an active lead in spreading something they not only know is a lie, but has a destructive influence on people's lives.
we've heard from friends in two separate congregations in our city that convention security will be tight.. the brothers made announcements this week and reminded everyone to be sure to wear their name badges.
those that don't may be questioned and have their belongings searched.
the same will be happen to anyone arriving during the sessions.
Giving the ASL gesture for "masterbate" will let you in, no questions asked.
Yeah, but I don't recommend giving it during the keynote address, no matter how much it's warranted.
waisted days and waisted nites.. freddy fender..
Towards the end, when I no longer believed, I'd think of Pink Floyd while at the meetings:
You are only coming through in waves. Your lips move, but I can't hear what you're saying
the constant references to 'window washers' as something derogatory.. i understand the context of it-that most jws are uneducated, and unqualified to do much more.
but sometimes the references seem snobbish, almost mean-spirited.
one poster, on another thread, essentially referred to window washers as 'losers'.
However, the problem is with the Watchtower sending these men to address issues that should be addressed by professionals
I get that. The problem is that often the term is used in a more general way, to insult JWs as a whole. In other words, they should be marginalized because the majority of them are nothing more than "window washers".
